How to Choose a Creative Agency in the AI Era

What brands should look for in a creative agency now — AI fluency, craft, strategy, transparency and a process that protects your brand.

Every agency now claims to use AI. The difference is not whether they have access to the tools. It is whether they have a point of view on how to use them well. Here is how to tell the difference before you sign a contract.

Look for craft, not just speed

Fast mockups are impressive in a pitch, but they are not a campaign. Ask to see finished work in market: packaging on shelf, films in feed, websites live. Speed should support quality, not replace it.

Ask about process and ownership

  • Where exactly was AI used and where was human craft applied?
  • Who owns the final assets and can they be trademarked or protected?
  • How do they document prompts, references and editing steps?
  • What is the review gate before assets are considered final?

Strategy must come first

The best agencies slow down at the start. They ask hard questions about positioning, audience and success metrics before generating a single visual. AI without strategy produces beautiful noise.

Transparency builds trust

An agency that hides its AI usage is usually hiding sloppy work. An agency that explains it clearly is showing you how decisions were made. Choose the one that treats the process as shared property.

The right agency does not sell you AI. It sells you better creative work, enabled by AI.
